Apple releases the all-new iOS 15.5. The new release is now the latest version of its iPhone operating system. It’s short on user-facing enhancements but could help appease regulators concerned with Apple’s dominant control over in-app purchases.
The new iOS 15.5 features include a pair of buttons added to the Wallet app. This button will make it possible for Apple Cash card users to quickly request or send money. Another addition to iOS 15.5 will be a new setting in the Apple Podcasts app that allows users to set a limit on the number of episodes stored on their phones. According to Apple, the new operating system also includes major bug fixes, including one that should improve the reliability of home automation triggered by people arriving and leaving.
Also on the list of new releases is an update for macOS. Monterey 12.4 is the version of macOS that could fix Apple’s Studio Display monitor’s poor webcam quality. In the course of testing the beta update, reports say the webcam performance is still poor. However, the update addresses the amount of visible noise in the image, also improves contrast, and boosted color accuracy. More tests are scheduled to be carried out to see if anything has changed.
