Few iOS users have complained about some form of misbehaving coming from the Instagram Stories. This malfunctioning has made a lot of these users to have rewatched someone’s entire stories before they’re able to proceed to see new ones. Some of these users have complained about this malfunctioning since Monday.
Earlier today Wednesday, Instagram seems to have resolved the issue with a release of an update in the App Store. For those who have noticed this usual misbehaviour with the photosharing app, make sure to download the latest update 239.1 from the App Store. The update notes read, “The latest version contains bug fixes and performance improvements.” There have been confirmations that it has been fixed and the Instagram Stories on the iOS version are now functioning properly.
A statement from Meta’s spokesperson, Christine Pai confirmed the company’s knowledge of the issue. She says we are “aware that some people are having trouble accessing Instagram Stories.” Pai apologizes for the inconvenience and also assured the public that the team at Instagram is “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.”
According to The Verge, the root issue was explained to seems to be that Instagram doesn’t remember where you left off when viewing someone’s stories. For example, if one of my friends has posted five stories and I look at four of them before swiping away, the next time I tap on their icon, I should see their fifth story. Instead, Instagram is currently making me go back through the four I’ve already seen each time I go to view the story. The problem also crops up when someone posts a new story to their feed.
Users dealing with the bug will be glad to hear that Instagram has released a new iOS update this morning that appears to include the repeating Stories bug fix.
