China Unicom Beijing and Huawei have in a partnership distributed Super Uplink to more than 1,000 Beijing commercial sites, as fallout of the two companies 5G capital project that was floated in April 2020.
The telecommunications operator owned by the China government had in 2020 tested the 5G Super Uplink on its commercial networks but started the step by step service deployment in May 2021.
The President of Huawei’s SingleRAN product line, MaHongbo while highlighting the synergy between TDD and FDD said:
“TDD + FDD networking will find its way into networks around the world, and 5G Super Uplink is a key example, showing that the collaboration between TDD and FDD is essential for the development of better 5G quality. Huaweiis pleased to have helped China Unicom Beijing to deploy Super Uplink on such a scale, in more than a thousand locations, and will continue to support China Unicom Beijing in its vision of continuously building high quality 5G networks. These networks will serve as references. for all operators who wish to develop 5G. “
Huawei had in a statement on its owned website opined that “the 5G Super Uplink was a key innovative step in the 5G Capital project and is expected to help China Unicom Beijing build high-quality 5G networks.”
The 5G enabled Super Uplink had excitingly improved uplink capabilities by making use of 3.5 GHz TDD and 2.1 GHz FDD coordination, high and low band complementation, time and frequency domain aggregation, and resource planning at the level of millisecond, helping to meet the high demands of services such as video download and HD live streaming.
Fan Liqun, head of the 5G co-construction and sharing work team at China Unicom Beijing, said:
“To prepare for the Beijing 2022 Olympic and ParalympicWinter Games, each site’s networks must be able to deliver ultimate experiences that remain constant, inside and out,”
“5G Super Uplink is up to this task, and its large-scale commercial deployment at 1,000 of our sites is another major milestone in the innovation of the 5G Capital project,” he added.
It is believed that the China Unicom Beijing will in its partnership with Huawei continue to develop and inculcate the appropriate 5G technologies in commercial markets, in a bid to serving their various customers, by improving their experience.
