Saving images with the preferred file format is one way to organize contents in the computer and its folders. Overtime, the JPEG image format has evolved into a different file formats such as GIF, BMP, TIFF, PNG, JPG, and WebP image format. Other weird file formats such as TIFF, WebP, and LNK file formats have been stirring reactions due to the inability to finesse uploading the image/file content.
However, the WebP image format remains the optimal file format that represents Google’s custom file format for saved images from the web — this is mostly inclined with the Chrome web browser. The WebP image format has an already made compressed enabled feature that allows the content to be saved for a minimal image size that is 47% lesser than the average PNG or JPEG format that increases image resolutions.
The auto compressor tied with the Google custom image format makes it easy to download an image sourced from Google’s search engine and other platforms inclined with the search giant company. Still, the WebP file format is yet to be widely acceptable by other platforms that are built to recognize images with either JPEG/JPG or the PNG format.
For instance, Microsoft’s apps do not recognize the WebP file format which will be available when the software giant is set to make it available in the futuristic Windows OS version.
Here’s how to tweak the WebP image format to the regular JPEG/JPG or PNG format.
The Windows Photo Viewer does not recognize the Google WebP file format but other versatile custom apps built by Windows can do the ordinary. Yet apps like MS Paint software are built to either open or change the WebP file format. Use the MS Paint app to transition WebP image format into JPEG/JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF, etc.,
Launch the Paint app on Windows and open the image.
On the Windows file explorer where the image is folded, right-click on the image and select Open with > Paint.
However, double-click on the image in file explorer to open Paint — if it was personalized to open by default.
After the image is opened on the Paint draw board, click on File and select Save As.
At this point, users can choose the preferred file format to save the original WebP format.
Choose the preferred folder and click Save.
