Thirty Start Ups have been chosen to demo their products and services at this year’s edition of Demo Africa. DEMO Africa is one of the flagship initiatives of LIONS@frica and aims to connect African startups to the global ecosystem. DEMO Africa is the place where the most innovative companies from African countries get a platform to launch their products and announce to Africa and the world what they have developed. With support from big names like the United States Department of State and Microsoft, they connect start ups with venture capitalists from within and outside the African Continent. Finance applications top the chart with a good number of these start ups coming from West and East Africa. There were over 600 applicants but thirty made it to the final stage. These thirty have to pitch their ideas in 90 seconds to potential investors. See the list of the final thirty below;

 African Start ups are not new to this kind of funding. Recently Hotels.ng raised $1.2m/$238m from Omidyar Network and EchoVC Pan African Fund, Jobberman was acquired by OAM. Konga raised nearly $40m to expand its operations in a market some predict would be worth about $13b by 2018.
