On X, Grok may now be called upon in the top level responses on posts, and the chatbot will reply to users. When an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot is included in a post reply, it already has contextual knowledge of the material and is able to respond to questions, even ones with ambiguous prompts. Additionally, the chatbot can comprehend images and videos and respond to questions regarding postings that include media. Notably, X users may also take advantage of a similar functionality offered by Perplexity.
X is making a concerted effort to reach more platform users using xAI’s Grok model. People may now mention Grok in responses and ask a query to seek an explanation regarding a post, according to many users who made the observation today. Two of the many users on X who had discovered this are Nima Owji and Egline Samoei.
The social networking site, which is owned by Elon Musk, has put a Grok button almost everywhere in recent weeks. It may be found in the post creation area, the bottom menu (app) or side margin (website), next to each post (as a tool for explaining posts), next to each profile (as a tool for summarizing profiles), and as a stand-alone button on the lower right corner of the website view.
Grok was already accessible to users of the social media network controlled by Elon Musk via a button in the sidebar. Additionally, they may click on the Grok button that appears next to every post, which will allow the AI-powered chatbot to use the picture understanding function that the model acquired last year to explain the post’s text and image.
Grok may now be called individually in post responses, though the creators likely believed that was insufficient. When users tag “@grok” with a question regarding the article, the AI chatbot will show up and respond to the user’s query nearly immediately. Employees at Gadgets 360 observed consumers tagging the chatbot in both text postings and photos and videos.
When Grok is tagged, it shows up immediately with the post’s contextual knowledge. Users can ask the AI to “explain this” in a vague way, and it will still be able to utilize the post as a reference. Since it was seen to provide real-time information in several cases, the tool additionally allows online search. Notably, calling Grok as a reply to another reply does not seem to work, and tagging it only seems to operate in the top level comments.
Perplexity also released a similar AI bot. The company’s CEO, Aravind Srinivas, said in a post that if a user tags @AskPerplexity in a reply, the chatbot would show up and respond to their question. Notably, neither of the two chatbots can be used to ask follow-up questions.
Perplexity, an AI-powered search engine, has been using an automated X account that functions much in the same manner for the past few weeks. The platform allows users to ask questions about any topic, and they will receive an automatic response within a few minutes.
The goal of every business creating AI models or tools is to make its chatbots or solutions more accessible to users. Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook, and Messenger all have Meta AI integrated into their search bars. Meta is a company that creates Llama models. Additionally, it built a website and made it possible for consumers to initiate a chat with the chatbot on each of these channels. According to reports, the business is working on a stand-alone Meta AI app.
By contrast, the Grok chatbot from Musk’s xAI was mostly accessible through X. But since the start of this year, the business has introduced new methods to use its AI helper. Grok has a distinct website and an independent app for iOS and Android. A SuperGrok package with additional capabilities including limitless picture creation and early access to new features was also recently introduced by xAI.
