With the launch of Apple’s new iPhones last week and with the iPhone 8 set for pre-order this week, Google plans to launch their next generation Pixel 2 series according to reports by October 4th.

This was reported by a Droid life reader who spotted the advert that appeared on a billboard in Boston with a tagline “Ask more of your phone”, followed by the Google logo and a date of “Oct. 4” at the bottom” which could probable mean just one thing which is that Google would be unveiling its phone Pixel phones on the 4th of October, 2017, just a little under three weeks away.

However, it seems Google had this all planned out because the Pixel and Pixel XL were announced on the 4th of October last year so it seems the new Pixel 2 XL could be launched about the same time this year to maintain some kind of launch date uniformity and also the popular “leakster” Evan Blass sometime this past summer predicted that this year’s would probably be on the 5th of October, which is in line with what the Boston billboard hints.

Google pixel 2 has a code name which is called ‘Taimen’ and “Walleye’ and Pixel 2 was also manufactured by HTC (a company Google could be acquiring soon), while pixel 2 XL was manufactured by LG and both phone designs will likely differ from each other at least in functionalities and looks.

Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL potential features

The device pixel 2 will probably have a thick bezel, a smaller 5.0 inch display screen while the pixel 2 XL has a design closer to that of iPhone 8 and the Galaxy S8. Pixel 2XL has a 5.99 inch screen, and is way taller than pixel 2, both device have a snapdragon 835 processor chip, with dual rear cameras.

According to tech site Droid life, which report that the smartphones have passed through the FCC (the American Federal Communications Commission) test. The device model number is GO11C according to the report.

The Pixel 2 will be competing with the likes of iPhones 8 and X and Samsung galaxy S8 among others.

Yeah , it will be cool to see google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL join the mobile market of the top second generation smartphones but now that we may have an unofficial date, I guess we’ll have to wait and see.
