Google is introducing the option to produce unique inline images and cover images using Gemini in Docs, after we first introduced the ability to upload full-bleed cover photos in Google Docs and AI-generated images in Google Slides with assist me visualize.
When writing essays in school or college, do you recall the multi-step procedure you had to follow to include an image—assuming you were lucky enough to discover the proper one? The newest feature in Google Docs, however, makes that simpler. You don’t have to search through countless animal photos on the internet the next time you want to see a picture of an African elephant standing close to a lion.
A new artificial intelligence (AI) function in Google Docs will let users create in-line graphics. Announced on Friday, the feature will be available via Gemini to Google Workspace users. The tech giant’s Imagen 3 AI model powers the text-to-image generator, which can produce high-resolution images that can be included in the document. Users can also pick between different aspect ratios and image styles. Earlier this year, the tech giant added an AI-powered cover image feature to Google Docs.
In fact, AI will probably allow you to obtain whatever image you desire without ever leaving the Google Doc. This is because Docs is integrating AI picture production driven by Gemini directly into the text editing environment. Here are all the specifics.
Gemini in Google Docs Gets In-Line Image Generation Feature and it describes the software giant and the new feature in detail in a blog post. Gemini in Google Docs allows users to use text prompts to create in-line graphics. The company’s most recent picture production model, Imagen 3, powers the feature. It can produce photos of people, objects, landscapes, and more in a variety of styles.
By selecting the “Insert” menu and going to “Help me create an image” under the “Images” option, users can enable the capability. The Gemini side panel will open as a result. Users can create AI-powered cover images by selecting the “Cover images” option from the same Insert menu.
Users can choose from three aspect ratios—square, wide, and tall—after typing a text prompt describing their preferences to create an in-line image. Users can also select from a variety of genres, such as cyberpunk, watercolour, sketching, vector art, photography, and more.
Four distinct photos will be produced by the feature if the “Create” button is clicked. To view other alternatives, users can click on “View more” or select one of them. After being chosen, the picture is uploaded to the document and can be manually resized on the page.
The feature is notably being made available to Google Workspace customers that have either the Google One AI Premium add-on, Gemini Business, Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education, or Gemini Education Premium. The feature is only accessible online at the moment. Although the feature has already been made available to qualified users, it may take up to 15 days for Docs to display it.
With the help of the new capability, Google Docs users will be able to add photographs directly from the document to their research, essays, assignments, and other writing projects. Only premium Google Workspace accounts with the Google One AI Premium add-on, such as Gemini Enterprise, Business, or Education/Education Premium accounts, are presently allowed to use the service.
Our most recent picture generation model—Imagen 3, our best text-to-image model—benefits from these additional image generation capabilities. You can now produce more detailed photorealistic pictures of people, landscapes, and other subjects.
Simply write your suggestion to build an image in Docs, and Gemini will build the image according to your instructions. This allows you to make inline graphics for a variety of use scenarios (such as a restaurant menu, marketing campaign brief, or promotional flyer). Additionally, you can select a style such as photography, water colour, and more, as well as the aspect ratio you desire for the picture.
Using Gemini in Docs, you can further customize your document by making a distinctive cover picture that may be used to tailor a client pitch, style an invitation, or add flair to a resume.
