The Google app is getting a new update to make the experience richer. They want to connect users with more fun stuff around them from sporting to exhibition events around them or in the future.

Google announced this in a blog post yesterday in which it said that that it noticed the frequency at which at users searched for event related things in its app. Google events in appGoogle doesn’t intend to at least for now to help you secure event tickets but just act as an aggregator for events from platforms like Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, Jambase and LiveNation among others. Google says the list will keep growing and is inviting event creators to check out its developer guidelines to ensure people can see their listings easily.

But this comes as Facebook still dominates the events space which they say is now used by 100 million users daily. To demonstrate its interest in this space, Facebook announced the launch of its standalone Events app on Android last December.

This update will apply for now to user in the United States and is likely to spread to other countries soon.
