For The Holidays, The Slim PS5 will be at a Reduced Price

In order to make the “slim” PS5 digital edition more accessible for the holidays, Sony is reducing its price by $70. According to a recent advertisement, the PS5 model, which normally retails for $449.99, will be available for $379.99 until December 24. The PS5 Slim appears to be receiving a minor discount during the Black Friday sales period, but is that true?

Sony said in a brief clip that the PS5 Slim Digital Edition would be lowered to $379.99, a significant $70 off its $449.99 retail price in the US, as seen by IGN. However, Sony swiftly delisted the clip after it went up yesterday (November 12), so attempting to watch it now won’t help.

Sony also said that the digital PS5 Slim would be discounted for the holidays at the end of their PlayStation 5 marketing film, which was released on November 12. Since then, the trailer has been altered and re-uploaded with no reference to the temporary discount.

The slim PS5 digital edition is now only $399.99 less expensive than the launch version of the PS5 digital console thanks to this holiday sale. It appears that the model with a disc drive already attached will still start at $499.99, even though the footnote at the end of the advertisement states that this price is just for the disc-free console. However, the holiday pricing also allows you to save approximately $40 by creating your own PS5 with a disc drive by purchasing a digital PS5 slim and one of Sony’s separate $79.99 PS5 disc drives.

Even though the sale didn’t include a start date, it was scheduled to expire on December 24th, giving you plenty of time to get one before Christmas. Those who were considering purchasing a PS5 disk drive, which costs $79.99, would have benefited greatly from the offer. With the disc drive included, the total cost would be $459.98, which is roughly $40 less than the PS5 Slim console.

Choosing one of Sony’s refurbished PS5s is another method to save money; a digital model costs $349.99, while a disc drive-equipped model costs $399.99. However, the original PS5 design, which is bigger (and possibly more ugly) than the smaller variant, is also included with those refurbished consoles.

Sony provides the $699.99 PS5 Pro, which is at the other extreme of the spectrum. However, that does not include a disc drive, and the distance from the screen may determine whether the higher price is worthwhile.

It was probably posted too early, which is why the trailer was taken from the market. The deal clip may be reposted by PlayStation’s official channels closer to the November 29 start date of Black Friday PS5 bargains.

Strangely, there is no information on whether the basic PS5 Slim with the disc drive included would be discounted on Black Friday. However, this may also depend on the individual retailer. Additionally, we are unsure if the agreement will be implemented in other countries, such Australia and the United Kingdom.

Really, right now, all we can say is, keep an eye on this area. There will undoubtedly be many customers ready to get the system at a discount in time for the holidays, so we’d be shocked if Sony opted to cancel the sale completely.

Since then, the video has been re-uploaded, and several users have made fun of Sony for removing any reference to the deal.

GameSpot has contacted Sony to try to find out what’s going on here.

For Black Friday and the larger holiday shopping season, companies like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo usually give discounts on their consoles and games. It is anticipated that Sony will eventually offer a PS5 discount. In other PS5 news, you can receive a free PS5 if you spend $1,800 on expensive jewellery.

The PS5 Pro, which Sony recently announced, is not intended for the general public but rather a highly exclusive market of tech enthusiasts. New console sales are expected to have a bleak holiday, according to some analysts.

Nintendo has revealed its own Black Friday offers, which include savings on Switch bundles, if you don’t want a PS5. In the upcoming months, Nintendo is anticipated to reveal the Switch 2.
