It’s been three years since  New York Times did a story on a fast growing app by a church startup called YouVersion by LifeChurch.tv. At the time, they had reported that the organisation had recorded a 100 million installation milestone on smart devices including tablets. According to their website as of today, over 226 million of their Bible app has now been installed on phones and tablets globally and this represents a 100 percent in the last two years and analysts believe this will further grow even as the app owners plan to translate the Bible into more languages which makes the Bible the most translated book in the world by many standards.

Well in the same vein, someone has decided to carry out rather an unconventional translation of the Bible as you know it. You can now visit bibleemoji.com and key in any passage of the Bible and see an emojis translation of a verse or chapter of your choice.

The app creator prefers to stay anonymous for now but according to Christian Headlines, the author says “a major goal of this whole process was to take a book that I think is very non-approachable to lay readers and try to make it more approachable by removing a lot of its density.” The creator wants people to read the Bible more in a fun way and have a better understanding of it.

Since the King James version of the Bible translation began in 1604 and ended in 1611,  several other translations of the version have been published usually for better understanding and conformity to today’s English language. All major languages of the world have a version of the Bible which makes it again the most translated book in the world.

The app goes for $2.99/600 Naira and is being marketed as “Scripture for millennials” in the app store. The current emoji translation is the King James version of the Bible. Here’s a link to the app on the Apple app store.
