Elon Musk is finally stepping down as Twitter CEO. He announced this in a tweet a while ago saying that someone else would be taking the reins in about six weeks.
Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!
My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.

In addition to Twitter, he will also be stepping down as CEO of SpaceX as well to focus on technology and sysops. Elon Musk would however be stepping into the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) role even as Twitter prepares to bring the fight to Facebook and other big tech. Just yesterday, Twitter announced encrypted DMs even as they teased voice and video chats. This comes days after Elon Musk said WhatsApp, a Facebook owned company cannot be trusted.
Once Musk bought Twitter last year October, he began making changes, first by sacking about 75 percent of Twitter’s 7,500 workforce which incurred him lawsuits of all kinds. The latest is stripping legacy verified accounts of the blue checkmark in favour of people paying the $8 fee for it.
Last December, Musk himself published a poll where he asked his over 130 million followers if he should step down as CEO and over 55 percent responded in the affirmative. Well, he didn’t immediately say when he would abide by the poll results but today has changed that.
We do not know who the new CEO would be but we know it’s going to be a “she” and rumours are already swelling about who it could be.
