Elgato, the leading provider for technology products like EpocCam for streaming and also allows iPhone users to repurpose their phones to a high-definition webcam for PC or Mac announces partnership with Snap to bring native support for Snap Lenses augmented reality filters to EpocCam. Elgato along with its parent company Corsair Gaming announces the new partnership with Snap for the functionality which already offers a similar filter natively in the Snapchat app. This collaboration is the first of its kind, it signifies the first time Snap Lenses combines with a mobile webcam app. Going forward EpocCam app users can now enjoy the new functionality that allows the possibility of having AR effects on streams and video content.
With the combination of EpocCam and Snap Lenses, video feeds are now guaranteed with eye-catching Augmented Reality backgrounds, artwork, filters, and visual effects in real-time. Users within the Elgato community can now express themselves in a more creative and fun way than before. EpocCam also includes extra features that give users the ability to use their iPhone’s microphone and also removes software’s watermark from a video feed. Unfortunately, an Android version has not been announced yet.
According to Julian Fest, SVP and GM of Elgato “This partnership reinforce our ongoing commitment to providing innovative and creative new features for streamers and content creators.” He further explains that “EpocCam enables anyone to make high-quality video content without breaking the bank on expensive equipment, and we’re happy that Snap is working with us to enrich that experience even further.” The brand, Elgato, which was formerly an entity of Elgato Systems was acquired by Corsair in 2018. Elgato has introduced several consumer technology products since its inception. These technology products include a thunderbolt docking station, thunderbolt drive+ and game capture HD. The company remains a leading manufacturer of high-performance gear and technology for gamers, content creators, and PC enthusiasts.
At the announcement, the company explains that a total of about 15 Snap Lenses filters will come with EpocCam and many more filters to be announced over time. These include virtual backgrounds, virtual masks, and customizable filters. The new EpocCam feeds with Snap Lenses are guaranteed to open users to a new digital dimension for webcams and automated AR experiences. The company says the new Snap Lenses will work with the free version of EpocCam as well as its $7.99 Pro version.
The company explains the EpocCam allows iPhone users to utilize their phones as a webcam across a wide range of services like Zoom, Teams, and OBS Studio which means these filters should be able to transform your appearance regardless of whether you’re streaming or participating in an important work call. Using a combination of the EpocCam and Snap Lenses in a single piece of the software guarantees a video output that is neatly integrated.
