Don’t Use Your Phone While It Is Charging – Not For The Reason They Told You

Many of us are attached (trying not to say addicted 🙂 ) to ours phones if it is taken form us even for a few minutes, it appears that a part of us has gone missing. But nothing trumps safety and by now you may have heard the myth that using a phone while it is plugged in could result in explosion right in your ears and could kill the user. Well while it cannot be completely ruled out, it is largely a myth that has permeated society. It’s difficult to see hospital emergencies reporting situations like this but there are other reasons you should avoid using your phone for anything when is plugged in. Let’s see some of them below;

1. Risk of Electrical Accidents
One of the most significant concerns when using your phone while it’s charging is the risk of electrical accidents. While modern smartphones are designed with safety mechanisms, there’s always a slight chance of a malfunction or a faulty charger. Answering a call with your phone connected to a charger increases the likelihood of an electrical mishap, which can result in electric shocks or, in extreme cases, a fire hazard.

2. Battery Strain
Your smartphone’s battery is a crucial component, and its health directly impacts your device’s performance and longevity. When you use your phone while it’s charging, it generates additional heat. This extra heat can put stress on the battery and, over time, lead to decreased battery life. In essence, constantly using your phone while charging accelerates the wear and tear of your battery.

3. Slower Charging Speed
Many users expect their smartphones to charge rapidly. However, when you actively use your device while it’s plugged in, the charging process slows down significantly. This happens because your phone’s resources are divided between running apps, managing incoming calls, and charging the battery simultaneously. As a result, your phone takes longer to reach a full charge, which can be frustrating when you’re in a hurry.

4. Overheating Issues
Modern smartphones are designed to manage their temperature efficiently. Nevertheless, the combination of charging and using your phone intensively can lead to overheating. Overheating can cause your device to lag, freeze, or even shut down abruptly to prevent damage. In extreme cases, it can lead to permanent hardware damage.

5. Reduced Charging Cycles
Every smartphone battery has a limited number of charging cycles. A charging cycle refers to the process of charging your phone from 0% to 100%. The more frequently you use your phone while it’s charging, the more charging cycles you consume. Consequently, your battery’s overall lifespan is shortened, and you’ll find yourself needing a battery replacement sooner than expected.

While it’s tempting to answer phone calls when your device is charging, it’s essential to recognize the potential risks associated with this practice. To ensure your safety, prolong your smartphone’s battery life, and maintain optimal charging speeds, it’s advisable to refrain from using your phone while it’s plugged in. If you must answer a call, consider unplugging your device or allowing it to charge fully before taking the call. By taking these precautions, you can enjoy the convenience of your smartphone while safeguarding both your device and your personal well-being.
