Recall the removal of the indigenous instant messaging app CrowweApp from the Play Store. Crowwe was introduced to Nigerians shortly after Twitter was a ban. The highly controversial application developed by Nigerian politician Adamu Garba has been restored to Play Store and App store for both android and IOS mobile phone users. The instant media app was yanked off both platforms back in June, shortly after the Twitter ban in Nigeria. Although this app was severely rejected and condemned by young Nigerians, no clear reason was stated to why it was removed.

Ifunanya Anya – CEO of Gloomme Business Connections Ltd, owners of CrowweApp, in a statement announced the return of the app on Playstore and App store. While announcing the return of the social media app, Ifunanya stated that Crowwe was never taken down by Google Playstore. She explained that the app chose to thrive in light of some changes. Ifunanya said “Crowwe App was just off the store listing page for a short while, to afford our technical team ample time to effect and implement all of the feedbacks gotten from numerous users across the country”

Ifunanya stated that the app developers continued working on it to ensure Crowwe comes back bigger, stronger, and in a more refined way that can meet the needs of users. She added that the design interface is now better and users’ experience is top-notch after the process of signing-in was upgraded and navigating through the platform made easier and seamless.

CrowweApp has been described as an instant messaging and financial transaction app that comes with a digital wallet that helps to transfer and receive money while chatting and connecting with friends and family. The instant messaging feature would also allow users to send and receive text and multimedia messages – photos, videos, documents, location, and audio messages free of charge. The platform targets users in emerging markets, particularly in Africa, supports over 5,5000 different devices, including feature phones, in addition to Android, BlackBerry OS, and Windows smartphones.
