Clubhouse recently announced that it was testing its beta Android app and that a global rollout will follow immediately after feedback has been gathered from the testing, and after it has fixed every error discovered in the testing phase. It seems Android users should get ready to start sharing and accepting invites as the audio-chatting service announced on Sunday that in about a week, Android users will be able to access the platforms on their devices.
Clubhouse revealed that Clubhouse will be available to Android users in Japan, Brazil, and Russia on Tuesday, then to Nigeria and India a few days later, and eventually all Android users globally.
The beta version of the Android app became available on Google Play Store for Android users in the U.S. last week, and according to the company, the app would be available to other English-speaking countries around the world soon. “Today, we are thrilled to share that Clubhouse for Android will start rolling out in beta immediately. We will begin gradually, with the US today, followed by other English-speaking countries and then the rest of the world”, the company announced in a blog post about a week ago.
Clubhouse’s CEO Paul Davison first announced that “Clubhouse will soon be available for Android users” via a weekly Town Hall meeting and Android users have been anticipating the app, and now it is finally here.
Clubhouse was first launched on iOS in March of last year and is currently valued at $4 billion. Many other social media platforms have begun to launch their clones after the success of the audio-chat platform. Twitter, for instance, launched its Spaces and any user with 600 followers can host the feature. Reddit also launched its audio-chat feature called Reddit Talk. There exist many more Clubhouse clones available, the audio-chat idea is becoming a norm in many popular apps.
Clubhouse announced its global rollout via tweet. The part of the tweet read “…Android upcoming. Working on feature parity with iOS. Rolling out everywhere this week!”
Clubhouse is finally available for Android, but many think that it is coming quite late as many Clubhouse alternatives are existing in platforms that people already have in their phones.
