Last week, Microsoft discovered the Chinese were behind several cyberattacks that targeted the US government and businesses with the belief it was orchestrated by the Russian Cozy Bear. With enough evidence president, Joe Biden is agitated to challenge the Chinese Ministry of State Security for digital espionage.

Biden administration then confronted the Chinese leaders for taking advantage of exchange vulnerabilities which the American now regard this as a broad hostile cyber act. The US government also claims the Chinese hired contract hackers to execute its intelligence operation — these hackers are known to be driven by personal gain, whereby they have reportedly orchestrated ransomware schemes as well as crypto-jacking.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government is reluctant to engage in the Americans allegations hoping not to tarnish official relations, infrastructure, businesses that are expected to be worth billions of dollars. Still, the DoJ went on to indict four Chinese suspects, believed to be affiliated with the MSS.

According to the DoJ, these Chinese men include Ding Xiaoyang, Cheng Qingmin, Zhu Yunmin, and Wu Shurong who allegedly conducted espionage aiming to steal trade secrets, health research, and intellectual property. The DoJ revealed the Chinese perpetrators commenced their hack initiative in 2011 that lasted for seven years.

The Chinese have reportedly compromised several autonomous databases aiming to steal information based on automobile technology, chemical formulas, bio-research.

The US government has taken severe precautions to counter such default — a proactive network defense system that restricts backdoor to compromised Exchange servers.

Biden’s administration then consulted the likes of private cybersecurity companies and its in-house agencies such as the NSA, FBI, and the CISA to determine how China has managed to compromise its network via Exchange loopholes.

The US government already heeded to secure its pipeline concealing every expected vulnerability in line with water supply, electricity, and gas. Still, the Chinese government denies the allegations the American government throws at them. While other experts familiar with the matter believe it is not China’s fault for Microsoft’s Exchange vulnerabilities.

Other independent reports suggest there is a 90% chance China is responsible for the  attack especially during Biden’s administration — as a result of the governance style of the previous US president — Trump orchestrated a trade war between the United States and China. The trade war has not ended even with the new Biden administration in the United States.
