ChatGPT Gets Short-Term Boost to Custom Instructions

ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that simulates human communication by using natural language processing. The language model is capable of answering queries and creating a variety of written materials, such as emails, articles, essays, social media postings, and code.

One type of generative AI is ChatGPT, a program that allows users to give commands to receive AI-generated images, text, or videos that look human.

Because users can ask questions and get clarifications on ChatGPT’s responses, it is comparable to the automated chat services offered on customer support websites. “Generative Pre-trained Transformer,” or GPT for short, describes how ChatGPT interprets queries and creates answers. Human feedback and reward models that rank the best answers are used to train ChatGPT using reinforcement learning. This input enhances ChatGPT’s machine learning capabilities to provide better results in the future.

Among the new training options offered by ChatGPT were the user’s nickname, occupation, and personality attributes for the chatbot.

This report shows the possibility that OpenAI expanded its Custom Instructions tool for ChatGPT on Thursday by adding a number of new possibilities. A number of users posted screenshots of these new custom instructions choices, which let users further customize ChatGPT’s generated responses. The user’s nickname, occupation, and personal characteristics can all be added using these new options. It seems, nevertheless, that the chatbot later dropped these additional options. It is hypothesized that OpenAI may have activated this function prior to its release.

Individuals Could Add Nicknames, Professions, and More on ChatGPT for a Short Time Several individuals on X (previously Twitter) shared information on the new ChatGPT feature. In essence, it is an extension of the Custom Instruction function. According to the screenshots that these users posted, the AI company updated the program with new customization areas that give users more precise control over ChatGPT’s response generation.

Grounding techniques like custom instructions remove the need to repeatedly type the same prompt. For example, a user can add to the custom instructions menu that they prefer analytical, succinct, and professional responses. This way, the chatbot will always follow these guidelines when answering a user’s question.

As of right now, these guidelines might be added in a single location as a text prompt. However, based on the screenshots that users posted on X, it seems that the chatbot included new settings that gave them more control over the responses that ChatGPT produced.

Users are able to remember their occupation and give the AI chatbot a nickname for themselves. Additionally, users can add personality traits like “witty,” “opinionated,” and “Gen Z” to ChatGPT.

Since the feature was not available on the chatbot at the time this report was published and Gadgets 360 staff were unable to confirm its existence, it is unknown how these characteristics influence the chatbot’s responses.

On X, users likewise reported that the feature abruptly disappeared after some time. According to TechCrunch, they explain OpenAI may have unintentionally made the feature available before it was ready. When the feature might be formally released is unknown.
