CES 2022: Toss The batteries! New Samsung Remote Charges Using Wi-Fi

Samsung Eco Remote

Samsung appears at the CES 2022 with a Wi-Fi router signal-sipping, solar-ready Solar Cell Remote. Because everybody loves Samsung, the company’s new solar cell Remote may as well be the first of its kind as it’s wirelessly charged via your router.  The South Korean tech giant known for out of the box innovations took away the solar-powered Eco Remote that was presented at CES 2021 and surprised a far more disruptive innovation that ultimately has the ability to transform RF signals from your router to maintain a charge. This is a remarkable upgrade if you ask me.

Although the concept behind the harvest of RF Energy is not quite new. According to an online source, the ubiquity of RF signals from Wi-Fi and outdoor cellular systems creates an attractive, low-power energy solution for systems that can’t necessarily be connected to AC or DC wiring. But this may be the first time the technology has been employed in consumer electronics. Unlike other wireless charging solutions you might have come across, such as the near-field Qi, the Eco Remote control doesn’t have to be very near or in contact with the router (it only works with 2.4GHz RF signals). RF Energy Harvesting can – unobstructed – reach devices that are up to 40 meters away.

This New TV Remote By Samsung Can Charge Wirelessly Using Your Wi-Fi Router

According to Samsung, the remote doesn’t need batteries and doesn’t need a charging base. While it employs a pair of wireless charging technologies, there must be someplace to store the sipped energy. Samsung said that “There is no lithium-ion battery in the remote.” According to Samsung, the remote has a capacitor that can store small amounts of energy. Batteries stores their energy chemically, but the capacitors are known to do it physically in a form akin to static electricity. Since it employs this pair of wireless charging technologies (solar and RF energy harvesting), it can constantly sip energy from your router and, if face down, the solar panel on the back that can charge via your end table lamp.

A Samsung spokesperson further revealed that “Whether it’s a bright and sunny day or the middle of the night, the battery stays fully charged by collecting routers’ radio waves and converting them to energy.” The solar cell Remote comes in black or white and is made from recycled materials. Samsung said it ships with every 2022 Samsung QLED 4K and 8K TV which are discussed below.

Samsung to reportedly launch 8K MiniLED and 4K OLED TVs in 2022 - Gizmochina

Samsung MicroLED, Mini-LED and QLED TV models.

The highest on the range of TV Models is the new MicroLED, Samsung says the model uses 25 million micrometre-sized LEDs to perfectly control the screen’s backlight. This TV Model is said will be available later this year in inches ranging from 110, 101 and 89 respectively.

Samsung controls Mini LED with 2022 Neo QLED – Pickr

Stepping down the ladder on the TV Models announced by Samsung is the mini-LED TVs sharing a part of its Neo QLED TV lineup. A number of new features suggest big changes for this year, one of which is called Shape Adaptive Light Control. This feature allows the TVs to have better control over blooming and an upgrade to a 14-bit backlight for more luminance points. Inside the TVs is a Samsung Neo Quantum Processor which possesses an Object Depth Enhancer feature that will presenter to the viewer a better separation of objects from the foreground and background. Also found in this TV model is an updated New Home Screen UI that has changed including like an NFT store for some reason, a section for cloud game-streaming services (GeForce Now, Stadia and Utomik) – a potential precursor to Samsung’s cloud gaming service that was announced at Samsung Developer Conference 2021 – and a continue watching feature that automatically gets the viewer back to what was been watched at the point when the TV turned off.

According to Samsung, its latest crop of flagship screens will support 4K/144Hz for next-gen GPUs like the Nvidia GeForce 30-Series cards that were announced last year. Samsung won’t help you get your hands on one, unfortunately, but its TVs as the required capacity to support the higher framerate for users lucky enough to get their hands on one.

While the mini-LED TV is taking up a majority of the paragraphs of this article, it’s worth noting that Samsung’s most sophisticated screen is also getting a facelift for 2022, too. The next version of Frame TV will be offering a whole new matte display with properties like anti-glare, anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint, this will help counter bad lighting and errant kids who would touch the TV when you look away. Like previous years, the Frame TV will be available in sizes ranging from 32 to 85 inches. Details on final pricing and release date are scheduled for later in the yea
