Amazon’s founder and outgoing CEO Jeff Bezos has big news for his fans and followers. The American business magnate, media proprietor, investor and world’s richest man has announced his intention to fulfill his dream of visiting space next month. The business magnate will board one of Blue Origin’s space craft as expected.
“Ever since I was five years old, I’ve dreamed of traveling to space. On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother”, his announcement via Instagram read.
The trip will be the rocket’s company’s first-ever space travel. The company revealed in May that its first space visit would happen in months to come and did not disclose the any further information. Details on the space travel to take place on the 20th of July did not say if Jeff Bezos and his brother would occupy the VIP passenger of the space rocket dubbed ‘New Shepard’ at that time even though that is what is to be expected.
The space rocket is reportedly named after Alan Shepard; the first U.S. citizen and second person to fly into space. The space rocket booster is capable of landing vertically on the ground after returning from its trip to space. After the billionaire’s announcement, bidding for a seat on the New Shepard had reached $2.8 million and the auction will come to an end on the 12th of June. The craft is only capable of holding six passengers and the last seat is reserved for a lucky bidder, and we’ll have to wait till next week to find.
Jeff Bezos has always expressed his love for adventure and described the anticipated space trip as “the greatest adventure, with my best friend”. In the video shared by the billionaire via Instagram, Jeff’s brother – Mark described the space trip as a “remarkable opportunity” and seemed as adventurous as his brother.
Blue Origin plans to launch its passengers more than 100km (62 miles) above the earth’s surface, allowing them to have an experience of microgravity and will return to earth under parachutes, information on the company’s official website said.
Talking about spacecrafts and space travels, Dogefather and Tesla CEO; Elon Musk recently announced that his company SpaceX will have a space mission that will take Dogecoin (DOGE) to the moon.
