The last time we spoke about Asus’ ZenFone 3 Zoom, we said we didn’t know how much it would eventually sell for. Well now we know and it is now available for orders starting at $329.
Like the name “Zoom” implies, the device focuses on imaging or photography. It features a 12MP lens and a 12 MP wide angle unit with f/1.7 aperture and Sony’s IMX362 sensor. They both feature 1.4nm pixels and a 4K video capture. It has an Autofocus time of 0.03 seconds as well. The phone is light and thin weighing only 170g and 7.83mm thin. Unlike its AR counterpart, it’s a 5.5 inch 1080p touchscreen and a Snapdragon 625 SoC. On the power side, it features a 5,000mAh battery.
This means that this device can magnify an object up to 12 times its original size on total zoom and 8 times on low light. As Asus puts it, Zenfone 3 Zoom’s 2.3x optical-zoom camera and 59mm focal length introduces a whole new way to shoot. 2.3x optical-zoom produce a high quality close-up, and the 59mm focal length lens brought subject closer to you by creating more depth to its background object – so you’ll capture depth-of-field effects to rival those achieved by professional DSLR cameras. Combined with the new Portrait mode, the subject stands out more by softly blurring the background. Professionals call this the “bokeh” effect- but you’ll know it as your new way to capture stunning portrait photography.
You can buy the ZenPhone 3 Zoom from the Asus website and other retailers like Amazon in the US.
