Following the “Let Loose” event, Apple announced its first new iPads in almost two years. Not only were their iPads at the event but they were also presented with upgraded software and redesigned accessories. Here is a quick recap of everything Apple has announced.
The iPad Air
A new 13-inch iPad Air from Apple is now available, providing a less expensive and lighter option to the iPad Pro. Along with the bigger size, Apple upgraded the gadget with the M2 chip, replacing the M1 chip that came with the 2022 model.
The new iPad Air is available in colours like space grey, starlight, purple, and blue. The price of the 11-inch model is $599, while the 13-inch variant costs $799. Along with options for 512GB and 1TB of storage, both models have a base storage capacity of 128 GB.
The iPad Pro
The iPad Pro boasts an OLED display that is sharper and more vivid than ever before. With a profile of just 5.3 mm for the 11-inch device and 5.1 mm for the 13-inch variant, the iPad Pro also has a slimmer design.
Apple incorporated its next-generation M4 processor into the iPad Pro in addition to giving it a cosmetic facelift. The new iPad Pro has 256GB of basic storage and is available in silver and space black. The starting price for the 13-inch model is $1,299, while the 11-inch model is $999.
An AI-ready M4 chip
Apple revealed its newest M4 processor at the event. Built with the more efficient 3nm technology, it has a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. The new iPad Pro will include Apple’s M4, the company’s next-generation chip. The updated processor, which is intended to enhance performance for iPadOS tasks connected to artificial intelligence, will be a feature of the upcoming OLED iPad Pro models.
Apple placed a lot of emphasis on the M4’s AI capabilities during the day’s announcement. According to Apple, the processor is “an outrageously powerful chip for AI,” with a CPU that is 50% faster than the M2. With a new neural engine that can process 38 trillion operations per second (TOPS). Although it is reportedly 60 times quicker than the NPU of Apple’s A11 chip from 2017, it is still not as fast as the 45 TOPS of the Snapdragon X Elite. Apple maintains that the M4 can perform on par with the newest PC CPUs while using only 25% of the power.
The new Apple Pencil Pro
Apple is returning with another upgrade, having revealed last year a less expensive Apple Pencil with USB-C. In addition to haptic feedback, the new Apple Pencil Pro has a unique menu-opening squeezing action. It also supports Find My and allows you to rotate the Pencil to vary the brush’s form. The iPad Pro may be used with the $129 Apple Pencil Pro.
Since the announcement of the second-generation model in 2018, this is the first significant update for the Apple Pencil line. While the more reasonably priced USB-C Apple Pencil that was introduced last year was compatible with more iPad models than the Apple Pencil 2, it also lost advanced second-generation features like double-tap tool switching and pressure sensitivity, which made it less helpful for tasks like 3D sculpting and graphic design.
A Magic Keyboard
Apple has also unveiled a slightly modified Magic Keyboard with an aluminium palm rest, a larger trackpad with haptic feedback, and, lastly, a function row, in addition to the eagerly awaited OLED iPad Pro.
There are two sizes (one for the 11-inch Pro and one for the 13-inch device) and two colours available for the new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro (M4): black and silver. They are $299 and $349 each.
Apple 10th-generation iPad Price
Apple announced that it is dropping the price of its entry-level 10th-generation iPad to $349 in conjunction with the release of the new iPad Air and iPad Pro. Compared to its prior $449 starting price, that is $100 less.
Apple is introducing Final Cut Camera, a brand-new program designed especially to facilitate live multicamera production. Users may “connect multiple iPhones or iPads to capture additional angles during a live multicam shoot or record professional video” with this software, which synchronizes with the newest version of Final Cut Pro.
Apple also unveiled new AI-powered capabilities, such as a virtual keyboard and bass player, for its digital audio workstation, Logic Pro.
