Apple Could Be Launching An Over-Ear High-End Noise Cancelling Earphones By Year’s End

Apple is said to be building its own brand of top of the line, over-ear wireless earphones. The new earphones are required to make a big appearance in the final quarter of this year, as indicated by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, and today Bloomberg said something to validate that talk, alongside an extra insight with respect to Apple’s plans for the new earphones.

Kuo’s prior report indicated Apple’s plan was to focus on the top of the line showcase, yet the emphasis on active noise-cancellation (ANC) features puts another edge on the organisation’s aims. Apple bought Beats Music and Beats Electronics in 2014, and just five months prior, Beats unveiled its Studio3 wireless over-ear earphones highlighting Apple’s W1 Bluetooth pairing chip – first utilised as a part of AirPods – and Pure Adaptive Noise Cancelling technology. Aside from shutting out surrounding noise, the active noise-cancellation (ANC) likewise assesses fit and alters for spillage caused by a host of factors such as the human hair, diverse ear shapes, glasses and head movement.

Regardless of whether Apple’s ANC earphones will receive an indistinguishable set of technologies from Beats Studio3 cans stays indistinct, in spite of the fact that some of the Bloomberg sources say Apple intends to incorporate wireless pairing functionality to the AirPods. Bloomberg’s sources additionally say work on the earphones has been on-and-off in the previous year and that it’s as yet conceivable Apple could infact redesign the earphones again before eventual launch later this year.

Let me add that the opposite could very well happen as well in that the project may not see the light of day afterall.

With respect to pricing, Beats, Bose, and Sony charge $350 for their top of the line wireless ANC earphones, while Sennheiser costs can run as far as possible up to $500. We don’t yet know at what price may fix its own but it could very well be slightly above the Sony and Bose prices or something in-between depending on Apple’s ANC.

As Bloomberg puts it, “Pricing will be key for the new Apple headphones. The HomePod is priced more than $100 higher than its main voice-activated competition from Sonos, and $200 more than an Amazon Echo, but $50 less than a competing Google Home Max. Beats and Bose both charge $350 for their high-end wireless headphones, while Sennheiser prices range from $100 all the way to $500.

Apple’s cost for each $349 HomePod is $216, resulting in thinner profit margins than typical Apple hardware products, according to TechInsights. AirPods have been tricky to assemble and use unusual design tricks, likely making them expensive to produce. The Apple headphones will likely use similar audio technology, driving up costs.”
