Last month, Pegatron revealed the iPhone maker will continue naming its devices according to its serial codename. Pegatron is one of Apple’s suppliers based in Asia — now, both Pegatron and Foxconn have disclosed the shortage of workers to quicken their pace in assembling the next-generation iPhones.
As in June when rumours sprung about the flagships Apple gadget was confirmed, these suppliers also confirmed they are granting potential workers a bonus to meet up with Apple target. iPhone 13 release is likely to encounter a slight hiccup since these suppliers are still struggling to recruit workers.
Amongst other Apple suppliers, Foxconn and Pegatron have taken it upon themselves to offer potential workers more bonus that is more than the usual salary. Still, these suppliers have recruited a low number of workers which is insufficient according to their estimates — this depicts people are not enticed by either Pegatron or Foxconn’s offer.
“Apple suppliers in China, including the world’s largest iPhone factory, are raising their starter bonuses amid stiff competition for the shrinking pool of young people willing to do manufacturing jobs, as production ramps up on new models expected to launch in September.”
It is worth noting that iPhone 13 rolls out sooner than later — a perfect timing when Apple suppliers are expected to recruit more than the usual number of workers to bolster productivity. The majority of Apple’s factories are based in Asia where 90% of the countries in Asia have upgraded their standard of living.
“Foxconn Technology Group’s factory in the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou, which produces an estimated 80 percent of the world’s iPhones.” In China, well-paid jobs are rampant which makes recruitment more challenging. Now, both Foxconn and Pegatron are less concerned about potential workers based in cities. Now, they set to focus on rural areas with lower economic standards for ease recruitment.
Apple suppliers intend to entice people with huge wages, salaries, and incentives. It is worth noting that this job opportunity’s duration is short-termed whereby it is that season where Apple produces more gadgets according to the availability of workers assembling its iPhones.
Lately, Apple’s suppliers revealed there were offering up to $772 to $926 as the amount reserved for the monthly payment of recruited workers, including bonuses which increases monthly salary to $1,312 to meet up with Apple’s target of distributing up to 90 million units of iPhone 13 after it launches.
Since iPhone 13 is expected to launch next month, Pegatron and Foxconn have reportedly “raised the bonus for new hires to another record-high of 10,200 yuan (US$1,578) if they stay for at least 90 days upon enrolment in its integrated Digital Product Business Group (iDPBG), which assembles iPhones.”
Per iDPBG’s policy that demands 3% of the workers’ salary will be reserved for referrals — a fiscal scheme that encourages people to introduce their friends and family to work for Apple’s suppliers in assembling the forthcoming iPhone 13.
Just as Pegatron and Foxconn entice people with bonuses, Apple recently added Luxshare to its list of suppliers. Luxshare also schemes the same bonus strategy for recruited workers to meet up with Apple’s target — millions of the next-generation iPhones are expected to be available for distribution since the tech company is assembling Apple’s gadget for the first time.
