The recent iOS updates has been seen as a deliberate attempt by the phone manufacturing company, Apple to slow down some of its iPhone models.
The Spain Consumer Protection Organization (OCU) has sent a letter to the Cupertino Tech Company accusing it of deliberately slowing down the iPhone’s through its recent updates.
OCU had in the letter named iOS 14.5,1 and 14.6 updates as the primary cause of the problem, inferring that the new iOS has damaged several iPhone’s, causing a drop in processing speed and also making the devices battery to drain faster than before.
The consumer rights agency listed the affected iPhone models to include iPhone 8 and iPhone XS and even the latest flagship – iPhone 12 and iPhone 11.
OCU after accusing Apple of intentionally slowing down iPhones also sought to establish a dialogue with the company over the issue in a bid to seek for compensation for the affected consumers.
OCU also threatened a law suit if Apple fails to meets its demands for dialogue on the issue, calling it a necessary move “to enforce consumer right.”
Several Spanish media houses have earlier reported the issue especially that of a massive battery drain experienced with the iOS 14.6 update, with users complaining of their batteries being completely drained overnight after upgrading to the new OS.
