Apple yesterday confirmed its long-expected media event for Oct. 16 in which it is likely to introduce new iPads and other Apple products.
Apple, which launched the new iPhone 6 models in September, traditionally also updates its iPad tablet line in October.
This year the new editions are expected to have a larger screen and come in additional colors, most notably gold.
The company is also expected to unveil new Macintosh computers, including an iMac desktop with “Retina” display, similar to what’s offered on its MacBook Pro laptops as a premium offering.
Also expected is the launch of Yosemite, the new operating system upgrade for Mac computers.
Apple first previewed Yosemite in June at its Worldwide Developers Conference, saying it would launch in the “fall.”
A highlight of the new OS is “continuity,” a feature that further ties the iPhone and iPad experiences with Macs. For instance, with Yosemite you’ll be able to start a phone call on the iPhone and complete it on the Mac.
