Reports from Bloomberg suggest that Apple is gearing up for significant upgrades to its iPad Pro lineup in 2024. This anticipated revamp is expected to include several noteworthy enhancements, including an upgraded Magic Keyboard, a transition to the M3 chip, and more vibrant and razor-sharp displays.
While Apple has introduced incremental improvements to its iPad lineup over recent years, such as enhanced cameras and sensors, the upcoming overhaul of the iPad Pro signifies the company’s first major update since 2018. With demand for tablets experiencing a decline in recent times, these forthcoming updates could potentially rekindle interest among consumers and encourage them to invest in an upgrade.
This revitalized version of the iPad Pro is anticipated to provide a substantial boost to iPad sales, which have experienced a dip and reached their lowest levels since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, as indicated by the report. Notably, iPad revenue during the fiscal third quarter fell by 20% year over year.
Apple‘s iPad Pro series stands out as the brand’s most premium and expensive tablet offerings. The upcoming iteration of the iPad Pro is expected to feature support for an updated Magic Keyboard—a peripheral that Apple first introduced in 2020. The new keyboard is said to incorporate a larger trackpad, aiming to provide a laptop-like experience with the tablet.
Further distinguishing the upgraded iPad Pro, it will debut with an M3 chip—an innovation that marks the first time this chip will be integrated into a tablet by Apple. Additionally, the device will showcase an OLED display, a technology that has been a consistent feature of Apple’s iPhones since 2017.
The new iPad Pro variant will be available in two sizes: an 11-inch model and a slightly larger 13-inch model, which just exceeds the dimensions of the previously offered 12.9-inch model.
While eager consumers won’t find the new iPad Pro unveiled during Apple’s imminent launch event in September, the device is anticipated to make its debut in the subsequent spring or summer, as noted in the report.
