The ‘exciting week of announcements’ that Apple has hinted at will begin on Monday, October 28th. The eagerly awaited new M4 CPU in its computer portfolio is probably going to be unveiled.
According to Apple, a number of fresh announcements would be made the following week. A teaser confirming the time frame was posted on social media by a corporate executive. Although details are yet unknown, the official hinted at upcoming changes to the Mac range. Rumour has it that Apple may ultimately switch to the new M4 processor for the iMac, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini. This move is noteworthy since it occurs one month after the business launched a number of new goods, such as the Apple Watch models, AirPods, and iPhone 16 series.
Apple has stated that it will be revealing its future plans for its Mac portfolio, including revealing new devices featuring the M4 CPU, in place of a special event next week.
Greg Joswiak, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Apple, stated in a post on X (previously Twitter) that the Cupertino-based tech company will begin a hardware-related announcement series next week on October 28. In keeping with Apple’s approach at past presentations in the same month, attendees will see announcements pertaining to Mac. Unlike them, though, this may take place over a week rather than all in one day. He also made claims that it was complete with the Mac logo. Although there are many rumours on what we might anticipate, Mark Gurman stated that he anticipates seeing a number of new models using the M4 CPU, including a high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro as well as a low-end 14-inch model.
Although the M4 processor was first seen in the new iPad Pros in May of this year, Apple has been rather silent about it, focusing instead on Apple Intelligence, the company’s artificial intelligence model, during WWDC and later with its incorporation in the iPhone 16.
With the release of the new iPad Pro models in the summer, Apple unveiled its most recent silicon processor, known as M4. It is also anticipated to make its debut on the most recent MacBook Pro models, beginning with the 14- and 16-inch variants. In what is regarded as one of the largest Apple leaks to history, retail boxes of the alleged MacBook Pro with the M4 CPU have appeared on YouTube in recent weeks. This laptop is therefore thought to be the first of its kind.
The iOS 18.1 update is also said to mark the official release of Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies for the iPhone and other devices. The new iPhone 16 series was supposed to contain these capabilities, which were initially teased at the WWDC 2024 event in June, however they have been postponed. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg proposed October 28 as the most likely date for the release of Apple Intelligence, which aligns with the company’s October rollout pledge.
Making the announcement now would be the sensible course of action. Apple unveiled the M3 CPUs for the 24-inch iMac and MacBook Pros about this time last year. But earlier this month, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claimed that Apple is moving away from the yearly cycle of product upgrades, making room for more frequent and smaller software rollouts and product debuts.
Regarding iMacs, a redesigned Mac Mini with 16GB of RAM that is around the size of an Apple TV device is probably in the works. Since the current on-market gadget has the M2, the Mini is expected to arrive with both an M4 and M4 Pro CPU arrangement, eschewing the M3 completely.
It is also anticipated that a new iMac with the M4 processor will be unveiled. Although there are conflicting rumours regarding the inclusion of an M4 chip in the next Mac Studio and Mac Pro, it is unlikely that these will be revealed until the new chip is included into more widely available core consumer goods.
Furthermore, according to Gurman, the MacBook Air laptop series is unlikely to include the M4 CPU until the first half of next year. Early in 2025, the new processor and accessories like a new Magic Keyboard are probably going to be available for the iPad Air 11 and 13-inch devices as well.
Product news for Apple’s MacBook and Mac desktop lines will be the main focus of the company’s “week of announcements,” but there will be other surprises as well. Monday is anticipated to see the release of the most recent version of iOS, 18.1, which will contain Apple Intelligence-powered call recording and transcription capabilities.
The AI competition that is already taking place on PCs with the proliferation of Windows’ Copilot+ products and Qualcomm, Intel, and AMD CPUs would be accelerated by new Apple devices that use the next-generation M4 chip. Looking forward to a busy holiday shopping season, let’s hope the Cupertino behemoth provides the firepower.
