Ever bought something online and have it sent to you through a Amazon delivery service and you not home when it arrived and you are left with the question what do you do now ? Okay!! here is the gist , there is an answer to your questions and that is  Amazon key which the company on Wednesday said it will launch a key service by next month, that will be used for in home package delivery.

The Amazon key will allow package carriers to unlock the door at the receiver’s house when they are not around so that the package can’t be dropped inside the house instead of outside. The in-home delivery program also falls in line with Amazon strategy of trying to make shopping for customers more convenient and with ease without much stress so that their customers don’t think of buying their goods elsewhere.

Customers who wants to use the Amazon Key service, will have to be Amazon Prime members and would need to have a camera and a Wi-Fi connected lock from the company which is priced at $250 then the shoppers will be able to select the in home delivery as a delivery option on the Amazon Application.

How the service works

When the package delivery person shows up, they will first knock to be sure if the receiver is home or not, then they will scan the package to be sure they are at the right address before they can unlock the door, the amazing thing is that no codes or keys required, Amazon cloud Cam will record the in home delivery and also it allows users to watch livestreams, Fire TV, recorded videos on Amazon Fire tablet or its voice-activated Echo devices that have a video screen.

For Amazon, the in home delivery service will help them in their fast growing home security camera market, to also help their competition among Google Nest cameras,  according to Martin Garner, a device and internet analyst explained that the in home service will give people reasons to buy the camera.

Amazon.com Inc said that the in-home delivery will be made available starting from November 8 in 37 cities in the United States including Atlanta, Cleveland, and Denver, the company also added that the service will covered by Amazon key Happiness Guarantee which covers delivery issues, property damage or theft and the company also the deliveries will be carried out by drivers who are vetted with background checks and driving record review profile for a secure and a safe delivery transactions.
