Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, now has multiple custom wake words — Alexa as a custom household assistant can easily be triggered to run errands without the exact custom catchphrase, such as commanding Alexa to close your windows and door uttering words like “Alexa, good night,” for a certain routine.
Now, Amazon has added an extra custom catch phrase whereby you can trigger Alexa in different ways, other than the typical custom catch phrase such as “Alexa, good morning,” you can now say “Alexa, rise and shine.” This catchphrase upgrade is suitable for smart homes’ daily routine powered by Alexa’s assistance.
For context, when trying to close your doors for a night time routine, you can command Amazon’s voice assistant with other custom catchphrases like “Alexa, night night” or “Alexa, bedtime”, instead of the typical “Alexa, good night”
This upgrade now enables Alexa to process other language commands such as communicating with Alexa with languages other than English. For context, Amazon’s voice assistant understands its bedtime when you use trigger words like “Alexa, bon nuit” (a French catchphrase for a good night).
According to Amazon, its voice assistant technology has up to seven new catchphrases that can process commands in line with its default routine. Alexa can also process multilingual commands in terms of diversity of household dialect.
Smart homes with Alexa in control appear to be flexible whereby encouraging users to feel enthusiastic about accomplishing more tasks with Amazon’s voice assistant. Last week, Alexa welcomed a Male partner called “Ziggy” — its serves as a trigger word that activates Amazon voice assistant as a responding male and not Alexa.
It is worth noting that Alexa is expected to respond as a feminine assistant while Ziggy will respond to your commands as a masculine voice assistant. You can also use Ziggy and Alexa simultaneously when you use the accurate catchphrase to trigger their presence.
