AI Token Values Plunge 50% as Growth Slows

The enthusiasm that fuelled AI agents, a popular segment of the cryptocurrency market, appears to have subsided. The recent market correction mostly affected the AI agent narrative, particularly DeFAI. The best DeFAI tokens Since their most recent peak, AIXBT and GRIFFAIN have lost as much as 50% of their value. The recent market correction mostly affected the AI agent narrative, particularly DeFAI. Bitcoin (BTC) lost significantly more value when it momentarily fell below $99,000 due to recent, trending stories. Even older AI coins and tokens experienced a correction in the AI token field as a whole. The market capitalization of $36 billion was the result of a more than 13% decline in the infrastructure AI and older shared computing initiatives.

Although it was anticipated that the two narratives would emerge as the primary drivers of advances in 2025, they lost steam in January. Although the two narratives had a year-end surge in 2024 that beat all assets, the momentum was short-lived.

Additionally, 90% of the cryptocurrencies linked to AI agent projects—computer programs that gather data and carry out tasks—have fallen to almost nothing, with little to no trading activity.

The goal of AI agent cryptocurrency projects is to develop systems that can analyse the cryptocurrency market without requiring human assistance. They assert that they can use AI technology to independently research market trends, execute transactions, and even invest in bitcoin ventures.

The collapse of these AI agent token firms has also been attributed to the absence of useful, real-world applications, according to Gracy Chen, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Bitget.

Chen, however, believes the industry will expand to at least $50 billion this year.

The loss of enthusiasm for DeFAI follows general weakness in the AI agent sector. After becoming oversaturated, the market for AI agents could not hold the initial inflows. Most of the value accumulated in several top AI agent tokens, while less liquid assets crashed even faster.

A new batch of agents based on the DeepSeek trend is being added by cryptocurrency projects in an attempt to tokenize the pattern. Based on DeepSeek’s training, the first dangerous AI agent tokens have already surfaced on Solana. To rekindle the agent narrative, SwarmNode has also changed, enabling all agents to switch to DeepSeek.
