Facebook’s First Smartwatch Sets To Roll Out Next Year

...Facebook's smartwatch comes with a detachable accessory suitable for cameras and other gadgets

Facebook is reportedly developing its hardware accessory — a smartwatch that is expected to have a detachable camera to produce images and videos. According to the social media company, its smartwatch is designed with a stainless steel frame that holds the camera, Techbooky reports.

The hardware accessory by Facebook is also integrated with its social service which also includes Instagram — to capture media files on these platforms. At the time when Facebook debuted this device in 2010, they mentioned it only supported uploading content and nothing more.

With Facebook’s smartwatch in-built camera — both the front camera and rear has auto-focus — you can either initiate or respond to a video call or voice call. It worth noting that this device can be supported with third-party accessory for detaching another gadget such as drones — this appears to be interesting.

According to the social company, its first smartwatch is set to launch in 2022 — maybe during summer. Still, Facebook didn’t unveil its price tag, while experts suggest Facebook’s smartwatch could cost nothing less but $400 for a piece.

Facebook’s watch is expected to have health-based sensors to determine and study its users’ health status — especially monitoring the heart and its movement. The social media company noted the device is enabled with LTE connectivity.

Meanwhile, Facebook has reportedly managed user data appropriately — so the smartwatch doesn’t need to be connected to a mobile phone to be active. This feature enables Facebook to be fully autonomous from its peers such as Apple, and Google’s Android.

Still, Facebook’s smartwatch is expected to come with an Android-like version to power its OS — a phone app is suggested to default the smartwatch as well. While other versions of the gadget will be released as a future product. Facebook is reportedly developing this gadget to interact with other devices.

Despite the billions of cash invested in this smartwatch business, Facebook seems to be nonchalant about consistency — meaning that the social media company is likely to null its smartwatch project. Still, the vast resources they injected will serve as a push to accomplish the project.
