Google is bringing an update to iOS users of its Google Photos app. In a post yesterday, Google said it was introducing image stabilisation technology which in other words mean live photos will be greatly improved for shots taken in the app.

“Using advanced stabilization and rendering originally used in the Motion Stills app, Google Photos can freeze the background in your Live Photos or create sweeping cinematic pans, turning your Live Photos into beautiful, captivating moments. Easily save it as a looping video and share it with anyone.” In addition, you’ll now be able to sort photos in albums chronologically or by recently added but Google hasn’t introduced sorting by file name option which would make life better for users even though other sorting options exist. Android users should not worry as the features will soon be available on the platform as well.

Announced last year, Google Photos had about 200 million users as at May this year and offers unlimited storage to users.

Why Google chose to launch this on a rival platform first, we don’t know but it won’t be the first time. All you have to do to enjoy this service on iOS (iPhone or iPad) is to update the app and that’s it.
