If only a few decades ago, someone tried to describe what common phones will be capable of in 2016, no one would believe them. In fact, even USS Enterprise or the Millennium Falcon weren’t equipped with some of the high tech features every smartphone now possesses. This, however, is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many other cool gadgets that are worth having in 2016, some of which might even peak your interest. Here are few of them.

Immersit 4D Motion Device

In 2016, we are presented with two top-of-the-game virtual devices that are about to revolutionize the entertainment industry once and for all. However, French startup Immersit decided to take it all one step further and make a 4D motion device to follow up. Now, instead of just seeing the motion with your headset, you will also be able to feel it through your armchair or sofa. Imagine a flying simulator in which, when you turn right, your chair leans accordingly. A whole new experience to look forward to.

Human-Sized Drone

During the last two years, the whole world has been obsessing over the presence of autonomous drones on such a massive scale. However, EHang 184 human sized drone is that and much, much more. Not only is this drone capable of anything that an ordinary model can do, but it’s also capable of carrying a single passenger for 23 full minutes. This incredible device is also capable of flying (while fully loaded) at the impressive speed of 60 MPH.

Today, Pokémon GO is taking our world by storm, while Snapchat is currently the second favorite social network in the US, right after Facebook. These two facts alone claim that our world is more than ripe for the arrival of augmented reality. Of course, no one claims that our world, as it is, has bored us, only that we won’t miss out on the chance to enhance it now that we have technology capable of it. Finally, even though the aforementioned drone may seem like a revolution in personal transportation, we’re at least a century away from it becoming an industry standard. Segway hoverboards can be seen in the streets of world’s largest metropolitans and are rapidly becoming favorite amongst millennials. Seeing how this electrically charged device is completely planet-friendly, as well as handy in densely populated urban environments, it’s not a stretch to say that their popularity will only grow in the future.

While some of these gadgets may seem a bit more unrealistic than others, it probably won’t be long until most of them find their way to every household. What yesterday seemed like something out of an avant-garde Sci-Fi novel,  may become as common as plasma TV or an AC unit. All we have to do is wait and see what direction these few gadgets will take in the next few years. We truly live in an interesting time.
