The iPhone 13 is arguably the most anticipated phone of the year. It is expected to be released by September of this year and there are already many rumours about the specification of the iPhone 13 series. One of the major speculations about the iPhone 13 series is that the series will feature an Under Display Touch ID. This feature will serve as an alternative way of unlocking one’s phone. The Face ID which is available on the iPhone X, 11, and 12 series has its shortcomings, and has proved to be an inefficient method of unlocking one’s phone when masked up and in a situation where one’s password can be revealed. Rumours also have it that the incoming series will come with either a reduced notch or a full-screen display, unlike its predecessors.
According to Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives, Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max should have 1TB storage variants. The series is also expected to have LiDAR sensors in all models.
According to Daniel Ives, with the iPhone 13 series, Apple will have both low-end storage variants and high-end models with 1TB storage.
Like the iPhone 12 series, Apple is expected to launch four new models this year; the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro, the iPhone 13 Pro Max and of course the iPhone 13 Mini.
A purple variant of the iPhone 12 and 12 Mini was recently launched. A new colour option is also expected to be made available for all or some of the models of iPhone 13 series. According to rumours, the series may have a Rose Pink variant.
Another rumour about the 13 series is that it will have a 120Hz ProMotion display which could be an Always-On Display. If this turns out to be true, it will be interesting to see how Apple keeps battery consumption in check because an Always-On Display feature consumes the battery. According to these rumours, the Always-On Display may show only time, battery percentage, and incoming notification.
All models of the iPhone 13 series will come with sensor-shift optical image stabilization, according to a report by DigiTimes. This feature is only available to the most expensive and iPhone model – the iPhone 12 pro max. The sensor-shift optical image stabilization stabilizes the sensor of the phone’s camera instead of the lens. This way, pictures with better quality and stabilized images are captured.
The iPhone 13 series is rumoured to be COVID-inspired. According to rumours, the pandemic is one of the major considerations of the new features that Apple is adding to the series.
Apple’s biggest rival Samsung already have models with 1TB storage capabilities, and this might be another of Apple’s attempt to remain at the top of the market.
